Narrative Reporting Release PV9.1.0 SV100

The theme of this Major release is the reintroduction of Narrative Reporting as a standalone solution, new functionality, and bug fixes.

Highlights

  • Narrative Reporting has been removed from Navigation Center and can be used as an independent solution.

  • New features with this release include an Artifacts wizard in the Narrative Reporting that streamlines how you insert extensible content and parameters into your narrative documents.

  • Administrators can set Cube View Profiles to ensure users are incorporating the correct Cube Views into their narrative documents.

  • Extract all book and document details into a .csv file using the Export book functionality. This enables you to quickly import your narrative reporting details across environments and applications.

  • Close the navigation tree in Narrative Reporting to gain a larger working area.

New Features

  • Use the Artifacts wizard to complete the following actions:

    • Insert variables using extensible documents, such as PDFs, Microsoft Word, and Excel located in OneStream File Explorer. (MP3-6259, MP3-6262, MP3-6605, MP3-7438)

    • Embed a business rule artifact that references another document in the narrative book. Referencing the content ensures the embedded content updates alongside the source document. (MP3-6603, MP3-7083)

    • Streamline how you embed extensible content using images. Choose an image and content in one step. When you save, the alt text is automatically added, and your image renders. (MP3-7738)

  • View parameter details, including name, string, and resolved value, by opening the parameter from the Artifacts tab in Narrative Reporting. (MP3-5480, MP3-5482)

  • Insert BI Viewer chart components into your narrative documents using Quick Parts. See BI Viewer Chart Components. (PF8-2987)

  • Add XFCell references as parameters into your narrative documents by assigning the parameter at the book, document, or application level, then inserting it using Quick parts. See XFCell References . (PF8-7983)

  • Add XFBR rules to narrative documents using Quick Parts to dynamically pull the data you need for your reports. See XFBR XFBR (PF8-7084)

  • In Book Management, administrators and book owners can perform these actions:

    • Set Cube View Profiles on books to give users access to narrative documents outside their standard permissions. (MP3-6573)

    • Turn page breaks on and off for each document. When enabled, a page break is added between pages when the Merge function is used. (MP3-7681)

    • Export existing books as .csv files to be used as templates across environments and applications. (MP3-7680)

  • In Narrative Reporting, use the Close Pane button to close the navigation tree and enlarge the viewing area of your selected document. (MP3-6580)

Enhancements

  • Easily embed artifacts directly in your narrative document without the use of Quick Parts. Simply copy and paste the syntax from the Artifacts wizard, and click the Process button to view your changes. (MP3-6856, MP3-7085, MP3-7439)

  • Use the Artifacts wizard to streamline how you create and insert literal book and document parameters into your document while working in Narrative Reporting. (MP3-5484, MP3-5486, MP3-6200, MP3-6201, MP3-7196, MP3-7295)

  • The Save and Refresh buttons have been combined to save you time. After making updates to a document, click the button to save, refresh, and view your changes instantly. (MP3-6951)

  • Before checking in a document, you are prompted to save and refresh, ensuring your edits are saved before leaving your document. (MP3-7679)

  • To streamline the OneStream user experience, when you create parameters in Book Management or using the Artifacts wizard, parameter names containing special characters will prompt a message informing you the name is not valid. (MP3-7452)

Fixed Issues

  • You only need to make a parameter selection once in the book parameter prompt, enabling you to move seamlessly through the Narrative Reporting workflow. (MP3-6855)
